Navratri - 2011 || Nine Forms of Devis With Their Meaning


Navratri is a celebration of Nine Nights which is mostly celebrated in the month of September October.The nine nights of Navaratri are celebrated with full of devotion.It is
celebrated worshiping all the nine forms of Shakti/Devi.

Usually Navaratri is celebrated four time a year.But the most popular one is which occurs
in September October.It is also reffered as Sharada Navaratri or Maha Navaratri.The other Navaratri are Chaitra Navaratri which comes in the month of March-April, Gupta Navaratri which usually comes in June-July and Paush Navratri which arrives in December January.

Navartri is celebrated all around India and abroad too especially in USA and UK.It is celebrated in different forms.In Gujrat it is celebrated in the form of Garba and Dandiya.All nine nights people perform Garba and Dandiya around Devi.Garba and Dandiya is form of dance.

In North India apart from Garba/Dandiya various troops perfom Ramlila at different place which shows us the story of Lord Rama.These Ramlila are perform in open grounds on big stages.

In East India the Navratri is the major festival of all where it's also known as Durga Puja. Huge big Pandals are setup during the festival for nine days where the Goddess  Durga is placed and worshipped with full rituals and devotions.The making of the Pandals begins two to three months before Durga Puja.Lots of celebrities visit West Bengal especially Kolkatta during Durga Puja.

The nine forms of Devi's which are worship these nine days are:
- Durga which means Inaccessible
- Bhadrakali means Auspicious Kali
- Amba Or Jagdamba means Mother Of Universe
- Annapoorna Devi means Goddess Of Nourishment
- Sarvamangala means Universally Auspicious
- Bhairavi means Goddess of the week
- Chandika or Chandi means The fierce Goddess
- Lalita means Spontaneous
- Bhavani means the Creator
- Mookambika means manifestation of Shakti, Saraswathi and Mahalakshmi

These are the nine forms of Devi with their meaning are worshiped during nine days of
Navratri.

These year Navratri begins from 28th September 2011 that is today till 6th October 2011.7th October 2011 will be celebrated as Dusshera.
